Melissa Mowry won the New England Virginia Allan Young Careerist Competition in Augusta, Maine on September 23rd.  Ms. Mowry was selected based on her professional accomplishments, public speaking and interview skills.  She is a member of the Champlain Valley Business and Professional Women and had previously been named Young Careerist by her local Champlain Valley chapter and Vermont State Business and Professional Women Clubs.

The Virginia Allan Young Careerist Program is a signature program of the Business and Professional Women.  It recognizes and celebrates the accomplishments of young professionals while providing an opportunity for support and growth for women and men in the early stages of their careers.  Participants must complete an application, write an essay, give a public speech and be interviewed by a panel of judges.

Ms. Mowry is an Assistant Vice President and Branch Manager for Glens Falls National Bank in Plattsburgh, New York.  She oversees a customer service team responsible for providing both personal and professional banking services.

An active member in the community, Ms. Mowry is on the Board of Directors for the Senior Citizens Council of Clinton Country, an Ambassador for the Plattsburgh Chamber of Commerce, a Committee Member on the Girl Scouts Women of Distinction and the Kiwanis Club of Plattsburgh.  She supports the local JCEO Backpack Program and United Way initiatives.
