May 20, 2008 - State Committee Chair Reports due to President
May 21, 2008 - 2008 Convention News Bylaws Update:
At State Conference we will be voting on one change in the State Bylaws that was presented at
the Fall Board Meeting:
Elimination of Article VIII (Dues),
Section 4. "Each Local Organization Treasurer shall pay annual State convention dues of ten dollars ($10.00) to the State Treasurer."
(You may remember we voted on this at last year's Conference, however it was out of order
and had to be noticed to the club - which it was in the Fall - and now we will vote on it this year.)
Certain changes voted on at last year's National Conference became effective in October, 2007. I will have available for review by the membership updated State Bylaws that contain any changes, and language mandated by National in their Model State Bylaws.
Submitted by:
Lori McVeigh, Bylaws Chair

The Nominating Committee submits the following Slate of Officers:
• Kim Bina - President
• Lindy Hatcher - President Elect
• Jacqui Hood - Vice President

State Convention Gift Bags:
I have been asked by our State President Mary Bushey to coordinate the gift bags for State
Convention this year. If you know of any business that would like to provide something for the gift bags please let me know. I will be contacting Barry Callebaut, and Cabot Cheese for donations. In the past we have had note pads, cookies from (Doubletree), pens, chocolate bars etc.
Since we are having a joint convention with New Hampshire we will need 100 of each item. Please note that we are not looking for advertising flyers. I will be trying to put a list together by early to mid April so let me know what you can get. If you can get a donation but are unable to pick the item up let me know and we will do our best to find someone that can help.
Kind regards,
Jeannette Warn

Good News -- for those of you who were told there were no more rooms available at the Marriott in Concord (such as Pat Nowak) for our BPW Conference, please know that when Gail Albertelli and I were there today with Sara Tracy Arone and Terri Lemire, we learned there had been a snafu at the hotel. Through error a block was put on accessibility to the group of rooms being held for BPW attendees. THE BLOCK HAS BEEN REMOVED. YOU ARE NOW ABLE TO MAKE YOUR RESERVATIONS!! So give it another try and we'll see you in Concord!!!
The accommodations are great and it is all under one roof. The Grappone Center is attached to the Marriott and you stay inside when moving from the hotel to the conference center, and back again! We think you will enjoy the arrangement.
Please pass this message on to all Vermont BPW members.
Thank you!
Mary H. Bushey, 2007-2008 President

October 25, 2008 - 12th Annual Women’s Economic Opportunity Conference Dear Friend:
It’s time to mark your Fall calendar for the upcoming 12th Annual Women’s Economic Opportunity Conference. This popular conference is set for Saturday, October 25, 2008. Once again, it will be held at Vermont Technical College in Randolph Center.
In the Conference evaluations, the Committee received feedback from participants requesting we offer more workshops that discussed balancing careers, family, and business. Women are looking for useful tools and guidance as they juggle the responsibilities of a family and a career. In direct response to this feedback, the central theme for this years conference is Harmony: Balancing Business, Family, Finances, and Stress. We are in the process of inviting new and energizing workshop presenters for the business, technology, life management, and stress buster tracks.
We’ll be sending out the program invitations at the end of the summer. In the meantime, please send this e-mail on to friends and acquaintances.
Marcelle and I look forward to seeing you at the 12th Annual Women's Economic Opportunity Conference,
PATRICK LEAHY
United States Senator
